With the bases loaded and the Royals leading 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina stepped up to bat but a gray feline interrupted him by racing across the field at Busch Stadium.

The cat managed to reach the warning track before being caught and removed by a member of the grounds crew. Several players, including Cardinals center fielder Dexter Fowler, seemed thoroughly amused by the incident. After this, Molina smacked a grand slam after it to give St. Louis an 8-5 lead and seal the victory for the hosts.

The Cardinals released a statement about the animal, nicknamed the “Rally Cat,” following the game:

A similar incident occurred at Marlins Park earlier this year:

With the 8-5 win, the Cardinals moved into second place in the National League Central.
