Warriors’ Stephen Curry To Undergo MRI Friday After Groin Strain Vs. Bucks

After missing the fourth quarter of a 134-111 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks (9-2) on Thursday, the Golden State Warriors (10-2) are expecting their three-time NBA champion Stephen Curry to undergo an MRI on Friday.

Steph Curry to have MRI

Curry sprained his left adductor (groin) in the third quarter and finished with ten points.

He shot only 5-of-14 from the field and 0-of-4 from 3-point range, marking the second consecutive game he shot around 35 percent from the field.

Curry appeared relaxed when the Warriors opened the locker room to the media but did not speak to reporters so he could receive more treatment.

“He seemed good to me,” Warriors forward Kevin Durant said. “I have to talk to him tomorrow and see how he’s doing. But hopefully, he’s doing well.”

Curry initially showed discomfort in the third quarter after he tried to contest a lob to Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo from Eric Bledsoe with 6:49 left in the third.

Curry pushed through the remainder of the quarter, then went to the locker room before the fourth quarter began.

Curry has averaged a league-leading 31.3 points per game while shooting 52.5 percent from the field and 50.8 percent from the perimeter.

The Warriors also were missing All-Star forward Draymond Green (sprained right toe and foot) and key reserve Shaun Livingston, who missed his sixth consecutive game because of a sore right foot.

Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins is still rehabbing from a left Achilles injury he sustained last year when he played for the New Orleans Pelicans.

It is currently unclear whether Curry will receive the MRI before or after the Warriors’ practice on Friday scheduled for 11 a.m, and Warriors coach Steve Kerr has not released any information on the situation.

“You’re always concerned for your teammates, but I’m sure he’ll be all right,” Dubs forward Jonas Jerebko said. “We have a great staff around us.”

The Warriors will host the Brooklyn Nets (5-6) on Saturday at Oracle Arena. The game will air on YES and NSBA at 8:30 p.m. EST.
