Jarren Duran Sticks Middle Finger At Fan, Says Fan Crossed Line With Comment

Jarren Duran stuck his middle finger at a fan in the Boston Red Sox’s April 14 game against the Minnesota Twins.

The Twins defeated the Red Sox 6-0. The incident with Duran happened during the fifth inning. After grounding out, Duran claimed that a fan made a comment that crossed the line.

“Somebody just told me to kill myself,” Duran said. “I’m used to it at this point, you know? I mean, s— happens. I mean, I’m going to flip somebody off if they say something to me, but it is what it is. I shouldn’t react like that, but that kind of stuff is still kind of triggering.”

Duran was part of a Netflix documentary that discussed mental health in athletes. During the documentary, Duran revealed that he’s dealt with severe depression in the past, including a suicide attempt.

Meanwhile, the Twins had 10 hits in their win. Bryon Buxton had a four-hit game, including two home runs. Buxton has hit all three of his home runs this season against the Red Sox. On April 13, he became the all-time leader for home runs at Target Field.

Twins pitcher Mick Abel was dominant in the Twins’ win. He pitched seven innings while only giving up four hits. He also struck out ten batters. He picked up his first win of the season and lowered his ERA to 3.98.

The Twins’ next series will be against the Cincinnati Reds, while the Red Sox’s next series will be against the Detroit Tigers.
