IN MEMORIAM: SPORTS FIGURES WHO DIED IN 2019 TRIBUTE SLIDESHOW

The games will certainly be more laid-back, with the Women’s National Team mostly focused on celebrating their win and honoring their fans across the United States.

The United States Women’s National Team won the 2019 World Cup earlier this month, while head coach Jill Ellis became the first Women’s World Cup manager to ever win back-to-back World Cups.

“The level around the world is going exponentially every year,” Ellis said, according to CNN. “Four years on, this was incredibly difficult because the opponent is better. The teams that we had to come through are some of the best teams in the world. In terms of the path and the level, this was pretty challenging.”

The US beat the Netherlands back on July 7, when Megan Rapinoe broke the deadlock with a penalty in the 61st minute, followed by Rose Lavelle’s dagger in the 69th minute to help raise the US to their back-to-back World titles.
