Oakland Raiders Lineman Menelik Watson Donates Game Check to Sick Girl Ava Urrea

In an amazing act of charity, Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Menelik Watson donated his game check, to a sick 4-year-old fan. The fan in question is Ava Urrea, who was  born with  lsonth hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), a rare defect, where the left ventricle of the heart is not properly developed.

The donation happened through Fox Sports anchor Jay Glazer’s organization Touchdown Dreams. Jay was able to get Ava Urrea to spend the day with the Oakland organization, where she was named captain, watched their practice, got all kinds of signed memorabilia and went to the game. On the Sunday morning preview, Jay singled out Menelik, who walked over to Ava’s father and said, “Sir, I would like to make sure that Ava has the greatest holiday. Here is my game check.”

Now, while uSports does not know the exact amount of the donation, Pro Football Talk has estimated it would be around $18,000, which is certainly a huge chunk of change. Simply, a great story that perfectly lands during the holiday season.
