As expected, Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association have been going back and forth in regards to negotiations for starting the 2020 season since being pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. One of the major sticking points for both sides has been the number of games and player salaries.
The players have been seeking more games, 114 in their most recent proposal, and full prorated salaries. The league in their latest offer, prior to Monday, saw significantly fewer games and pay cuts. On Monday, MLB and the owners sent their latest proposal to the players association.
In their proposal, the league offered a 76-game regular season with the playoffs starting at the beginning of October. Salaries would be prorated 75%, meaning players would get three-fourths of their salary, bonus pool of money for teams that make the playoffs, payment for players if there is a postseason, and no draft pick compensation for signing players, among other things.

It has been reported that the MLBPA feels that this latest offer by MLB is their worst proposal yet, so it seems that these two sides are either further apart than from when they started which should have fans worried about whether or not there will be a season this year.
