Keith Olbermann Suspended For Rest Of The Week By ESPN
As everyone who has followed Keith Olbermann’s career knows, he believes in his convictions to a fault. In the latest case, he decided to have a Twitter war with Penn State alumni and students – Olbermann is adamant on his stance that the NCAA was wrong for reducing the Nittany Lions’ sanctions for covering up the Jerry Sandusky crimes.
Well for some reason, Lisa Aiello DeLeon attempted, through Twitter, to show Olbermann that Penn State raised over $13 million for the Four Diamonds Fund. And while Keith lambasted the phrase and not the link in the tweet, the result was a long back and forth between the longtime host and the Nittany Lion community.
Since then, ESPN has released a statement regarding this tirade. “We are aware of the exchange Keith Olbermann had on Twitter last night regarding Penn State,” it read. “It was completely inappropriate and does not reflect the views of ESPN. We have discussed it with Keith, who recognizes he was wrong. ESPN and Keith have agreed that he will not host his show for the remainder of this week and will return on Monday. The annual tradition of THON and the efforts of the students of Penn State to fight pediatric cancer should be applauded.”
On top of this, Keith released an apology tweet.
