The Ezekiel Elliott–Jerry Jones saga continues to unfold.
Now that Jadeveon Clowney ended up in Seattle, the last big holdover story of the offseason came to a close this week as Elliott signed a six-year, $100 million dollar contract on Wednesday.
Elliott’s agent stated that his client and the Dallas Cowboys were close to a suitable deal.
“I think Zeke is showing he’s committed by coming back to Dallas,” said Rocky Arceneaux, Elliott’s agent, “We didn’t come here not to do a deal. We’re talking. They’re committed and we’re committed. That’s why we are here.”

All smiles, Jones went on TV and poked fun at his signing by stating, “my pockets are now $100 million dollars lighter as of this morning.”
The rocky start to the negotiations between the Cowboys and Elliott stem from comments made back at the end of last NFL season, when Jones expressed his thoughts on the diminishing importance of a running back needed to win a Super Bowl.
Last month, Jones went on to joke with a reporter who asked him about negotiations with Elliott.
“Zeke who?” He joked. Apparently, Elliott and Arceneaux did not appreciate the joke.
