Bulls Get Proven Scorer With Norman Powell

Norman Powell is joining the Chicago Bulls, giving them a proven veteran scorer.

The Chicago Bulls made one of the biggest free agency additions by agreeing to a two-year, $45 million contract with Powell. Powell played for the Miami Heat last season, and his departure is a big loss for them. In 58 games, he averaged 21 points, three rebounds and two assists, earning his first NBA All-Star selection. It also marked his second consecutive season averaging more than 20 points per game and his third straight year making at least 150 three-pointers.

This signing gives Chicago an experienced scorer and a very consistent outside shooter. The Bulls entered free agency looking for another proven scorer. After several roster changes during the past year, the front office wanted a veteran who could provide leadership while helping a young core that includes Josh Giddey, Jaden Ivey, Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson. Powell’s experience should boost the young team’s offensive production and make him one of the organization’s top priorities.

Powell has built a reputation as one of the league’s most reliable shooters. Over his 11 NBA seasons, he has shot 39% from the three-point range while playing for the Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat. His ability to score on and off the ball should give Chicago another dependable offensive option.

Powell was also a member of the 2019 NBA champion Raptors. He has appeared in numerous playoff series since. He’s always been a successful NBA player, and he gives Chicago a spark as he takes on a significant role.

As the Bulls reshape their roster, signing Norman Powell signals a commitment to blending youth with experience. It’s a strong addition for Chicago.
