Azzi Fudd Reunites With With Girlfriend Paige Bueckers After Being Selected By Wings In WNBA Draft
The Dallas Wings selected Azzi Fudd with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
Fudd was widely considered to be the best player in the draft. She is dating the Wings’ 2025 No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers.
The two played together at UConn from 2022 to 2025. In the 2024-25 season, UConn won the NCAA women’s basketball championship. During the season, Bueckers averaged 20 points per game while Fudd averaged 14 points per game.
With Bueckers graduating after the 2025 season, Fudd needed to step up to keep UConn competitive. She increased her points-per-game average to 17.3. UConn lost in the national semifinal against South Carolina.

Fudd is known for complementing other stars well. She’s able to do this with her elite three-point shooting. She led the nation in three-point shooting percentage in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. On defense, she has top-tier lateral quickness, which helps her keep up with anybody.
Many scouts consider her NBA equivalent to be Klay Thompson. Thompson won four NBA titles with the Golden State Warriors from 2015 to 2022. He was widely considered the second-best shooter in the league, only behind his teammate Stephen Curry.
Bueckers and Fudd have been playing together for over a decade. The two quickly formed chemistry on the court.
“I mean, Paige is an incredible player. Everybody knows that she’s someone who makes playing basketball easy, and so I think just the prior experience knowing how to play with her, play off of her will only help going to this,” Fudd said.
In the third round, the Wings selected Zee Spearman from Tennessee. She averaged 10 points per game in her senior season.
The Wings will play their first game of the season on May 9 against the Indiana Fever.
