NBA Draft 2017 Round 1 Preview: Start Time, TV/Streaming Info, Team Order, Predictions

This year’s NBA Draft will kick off at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday night (June 22), and here is all the info you need:

NBA Draft 2017 Round 1 Info/Preview

When: Thursday, June 22, 7 p.m. EST

Where: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Predictions:

The Philadelphia 76ers are widely projected to select Washington guard Markelle Fultz as the No. 1 overall pick from the Boston Celtics, who are expected to take Kansas swingman Josh Jackson at No. 3 overall. Fultz could likely prove to mesh well with the Sixers’ young core of guards like Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Dario Saric. Philadelphia is also predicted to take the Lakers’ first-round pick from next year as part of their trade for Fultz.

According to the New York Times, the Lakers will likely choose hometown star Lonzo Ball — a powerful point guard who played one season for UCLA — as the No. 2 overall pick on Thursday. Ball’s father LaVar is a former college basketball star and former tight end who played in the World League of American Football and as a practice squad member for the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers of the NFL.

The top international prospects, per the Times, are Frenchman Frank Nitikina and Latvian center Anzejs Pasecniks. In total, the NBA boasts 20 French-born players, while only four come from Latvia — three of whom have joined the league in the last three years.
