Mark Sanchez, the newly signed Chicago Bear’s backup quarterback, injured his knee during organized team activities on Tuesday. The injury is expected to keep him sidelined until training camp begins in mid-July, according to ESPN.

Sanchez signed a one year deal worth $2 million, with $1 million guaranteed, with the Bears in March. With Mike Glennon as their starter, the Bears were not expected to pick a quarterback in the 2017 NFL draft. But, with the second pick, the Bears selected Mitchell Trubisky, a quarterback from UNC.

The pick put Sanchez’s role on the team in question, as Tubisky is expected to serve as the team’s primary backup to Glennon.

In the wake of what the team is calling a “minor” injury, the Bears made several roster moves. To start, they rescinded their request for waivers on Connor Shaw, a backup quarterback. Chicago initially waived Shaw to make way for wide receiver Victor Cruz, who was added to the team’s roster on Tuesday. Jhujuan Seales, a wide receiver, was waived instead.

Sanchez has been injured four times before this current injury – which, again, is only minor – and not including the colossal bruise his ego was tagged with after his infamous ‘butt fumble.’
