Rockies Rookie SS Trevor Story Makes All-Star Final Vote List
The game is set for July 12 at San Diego’s Petco Park.
“I’m proud of it,” 23-year-old Story said Tuesday. “You grow up dreaming about maybe being an All-Star. I still have a chance. It’s very humbling.”
The shortstop is among 10 players– five from each league– on the final vote list that fans can choose from on MLB.com and via each team’s website. One spot on each roster remains to be determined from the final vote, which runs through 4 p.m. EDT Friday.

Story became the first player to hit two home runs in his major league debut on opening day (April 4), a pair of opening drives off Arizona Diamondbacks ace Zack Greinke no less. Story had six homers in his first four games.
“It’s been very enjoyable,” Story said of his first half in the big leagues. “The best time of my life so far. I’ve had so much fun every single day this season.”
Teammates and close friends, right fielder Carlos Gonzalez and third baseman Nolan Arenado, are already on the NL roster next week, and Story is hoping to join them.
He has an unofficial campaign manager, too.
“We’re talking about a kid who’s had one of the greatest first halves we’ve seen,” Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. “His numbers are certainly worthy.”
Story began Tuesday batting .264 with 19 home runs and 50 RBIs.
The NL list also includes San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt, as well as Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun, Arizona third baseman Jake Lamb and Pittsburgh Pirates left fielder Starling Marte.
The AL list includes Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler, Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria, Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Michael Saunders and Houston Astros right fielder George Springer.
“You never know what’s going to happen,” Story said of the vote. “I’m too worried about playing baseball. … I know I’m in good hands. We’ll let them take a swing at it.”
