Trevor Megill Takes Shots At Former Team After Winning World Series
After closing out Game 5 of the World Series to win the Milwaukee Brewers their first title in franchise history, Trevor Megill took some shots at his former team, the Chicago Cubs, in his postgame interview.
Megill was asked what he had to say to all the Brewers fans in attendance at Tropicana Field; he said, “Have fun talking [expletive] to Chicago next year. We have a ring.”
Megill isn’t wrong; the Brewers now have their championship and current bragging rights over the Cubs until next year. The Cubs made the playoffs this year but were quickly eliminated by the San Diego Padres in the Wild Card round.
Megill played a pivotal role in this championship run. He posted a 2.00 ERA in the playoffs, recorded five saves in eight appearances, and pitched nine innings.

His time with the Cubs has meaning for Megill, as he was with Chicago from 2019 to 2021 after the Cubs selected him in the Rule 5 Draft. Megill pitched for the Cubs only in 2021, and he struggled, finishing with an 8.37 ERA in 28 appearances.
Megill has been with Milwaukee since the 2023 season and has become a reliable reliever for the Brewers, adding to the Cubs’ frustration, knowing a division rival has now gotten a player they discarded in the past.
