West Virginia vs. Oklahoma basketball game news

West Virginia snapped their three-game losing streak and are now 17-6 (6-4 Big 12) after defeating Kansas State 89-51 on Saturday. On the season, the Mountaineers are averaging 81.0 ppg on 42.8% shooting from the field. They are also averaging 9.0 three-pointers per game on 33.9% shooting from beyond the arc. West Virginia’s top leaders have been Jevon Carter (16.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 6.8 apg, 3.2 spg), Daxter Miles Jr. (12.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.4 spg), Lamont West (10.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg), and Sagaba Konate (10.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 3.2 bpg).

Oklahoma dropped to 16-6 (6-4 Big-12) on the season after losing to Texas 79-74 on Saturday. Oklahoma held a 50-40 lead early in the 2nd half, however, struggled offensively down the stretch and couldn’t fight back after a 13-0 Longhorns run gave Texas a 70-66 lead with 3:42 left in regulation. The Sooners’ offense ranks first in the nation.

The Sooners have lost four of their last six games. Over that stretch, freshman star Trae Young has proven himself to be a powerful asset. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard has bounced between a high of 29 shots against Oklahoma State to a low of nine against Kansas. West Virginia has also dropped four of its last six games.
