Unusual Wake Up Call For The Warriors & Klay Thompson

Doc Rivers and his Clipper’s defense was no match for Klay Thompson and the Warriors for game four in the first round. The Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Clippers 113-105 at the Staples Center. Thompson scored 32 points, starting 7 for 7 from the field. But what struck his near-flawless performance might not have been what everyone was expecting.

Never Change, Klay

Thompson told ESPN, “I didn’t think I had bad games, but I didn’t have any big games,” Thompson told ESPN. “I told Jonas [Jerebko on Saturday] we went to the beach and played some volleyball. I’m like, ‘Yo, I’m just going to jump in the ocean, and I just know that will reset my mind.’ And it worked.”

Oddly enough, it worked, the reset had Thompson leading his team to a 3-1 lead of the Los Angeles Clippers, finishing 6 of 9 from deep and 60 percent from the field overall.

Thompson wasn’t the only player that played well for the Warriors, as Kevin Durant continues to prove himself as one of the leagues all-time most threatening offensive players. Durant finished with 33 points, while guard Stephen Curry, reportedly battling his usual ankle injury, had just 12 points.

Curry talked to ESPN about Thompson’s reset button,

“I know the Pacific Ocean is undefeated. He got his feet wet [Saturday], walked in the hotel with a wet T-shirt, with his shades on. A typical Klay type of vibe. I just had a smile on my face when I saw him because I knew what that meant. It was nice for him to show out like he did. We needed every bit of it, for sure.”

Same Ol’ Durant

Along with his 33 points, Durant also finished with seven rebounds and six assists. Displaying his true dominance on the offensive side of the floor. In the 2017 finals, Durant secured the NBA title in Game five against the Cleveland Cavaliers with 39 points. Durant will be looking to continue his playoff dominance in the rest of the 2019 playoffs as well.

Game five is set for Wednesday, 10:30 p.m. EST at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland.
