UEFA Champions League Matchday 2 Highlights Part 2
The competitiveness and enthusiasm of the Champions League continued during Wednesday’s fixtures.
After last week’s draw with Sevilla, Chelsea FC defeated Krasnodar, 4-0. Callum Hudson Odoi, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic all scored.
In a pulse-racing atmosphere, PSG managed to defeat Istanbul Basaksehir, 2-0. PSG’s new loan signing Moise Kean scored both goals. PSG was lucky not to concede any goals after a shaky performance.
The Ferencvaros and Dynamo Kyiv fixture ended with a draw, 2-2. Dynamo Kyiv’s Victor Tsyhankov scored a penalty followed by a goal from Carlos de Pena. Ferencvaros’ Tokmac Nguen scored a goal in the second half. In the last minutes, Dynamo Kyiv’s Serhiy Sydorchuk was sent off and short afterward Ferencvaros’ Franck Boli scored the equalizer for his side.
FC Barcelona defeated Juventus, 2-0. FC Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele scored a deflected goal in the first half. Juventus’ Alvaro Morata scored three goals but were all ruled out for offside. Juventus defender Merih Demiral was sent in the last minutes of the game. In the added time, FC Barcelona was awarded a penalty, which Lionel Messi scored. FC Barcelona missed a lot of opportunities to score during the game, while Juventus looked unorganized and inexperienced with the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Lazio and Club Brugge fixture ended with a draw. Lazio’s Joaquin Correa scored in the first half of the game and then Club Brugge’s Hans Vanaken scored a penalty in the second half.
Manchester United beat RB Leipzig, 5-0. Mason Greenwood scored the first goal then Marcus Rashford scored three. Anthony Martial then scored a penalty in the last minutes of the game. So far, Manchester United won all their Champions League group stage games.
Borussia Dortmund defeated Zenit St. Petersburg, 2-0. Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho scored a penalty in the last minutes, followed by a goal from Erling Haaland.
Sevilla managed to clinch a narrow win against Rennes after Luuk de Jong scored a goal in the second half.
