Manchester United is coming to the United States this summer for a preseason tour.
The Premier League club will play in five U.S. cities, four of which have already been announced, and two of which are in California: Los Angeles, Santa Clara, Salt Lake City and Washington D.C. The fifth city will be announced soon.
United first visited the United States in 1950 and also played exhibition games as part of the International Champions Cup (ICC) tournament ahead of the 2014-15 season when then-manager Louis van Gaal criticized the schedule.

Given that Premier League following in the U.S. has increased in recent years, United realized what a great opportunity this could be for the club. Some of this summer’s games will also be played as part of the ICC.
“Visiting North America will give the team the best possible preparation for the new season, using top-class training facilities and playing in some great stadiums,” United vice chairman Ed Woodward said in March.
“We have witnessed first-hand the passion and support for the club in the U.S. in recent years, so naturally it is something that everybody is very much looking forward to this summer.”
Though the specific dates and opponents for many of the games have not been set yet, one game’s details have been announced, and tickets are now available for purchase on ticketmaster.com: the Santa Clara match.
United will face Real Madrid at Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, on Sunday, July 23 at 2 p.m. local time in an ICC matchup.
