Spurs Add Veteran Tobias Harris To Roster

The San Antonio Spurs signed veteran forward Tobias Harris to a two-year, $31 million contract, adding experience and versatility to a San Antonio roster that just reached the NBA Finals. The fully guaranteed deal gives the Spurs a veteran to complement the young core led by Victor Wembanyama.

Harris, who turns 34 this year, arrives after two productive seasons with the Detroit Pistons. While his numbers dipped slightly compared to earlier in his career, he remained one of Detroit’s most reliable players, averaging 13 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists while shooting 37% from three-point range during the 2025-26 season.

Harris elevated his game in the Eastern Conference semifinals, averaging 18 points and seven rebounds. If he can maintain that level of play, the Spurs would welcome his contributions in another deep postseason run—as long as the team stays healthy.

The Spurs reached the NBA Finals behind Wembanyama, but the front office believed they lacked experience and the ability to consistently stretch the floor and defend multiple positions. Harris addresses both concerns.

Harris’ ability to knock down open three-pointers will provide space for the young players to operate. The two-year deal also gives the front office flexibility for the future. While it might not be the flashiest offseason move, Harris could help push the Spurs over the top as they aim to return to the NBA Finals.
