Bruce Irvin has had an interesting last couple of weeks. After speculation that Seattle would not pick up his contract extension, which would have paid him $7.8 million in 2016, the Seahawks proved the rumor true.
Immediately following the announcement, Irvin went to Twitter to voice his frustrations.
Afterwards, he said “I am a Seahawk,” but further angered fans by saying, “I’m a very blunt person and that won’t ever change, sorry if u dislike it.” And it seems like this attitude continues to persist, as Irvin made headlines for his latest comment.

While attending the Eastern Conference semifinals between the Hawks and the Wizards, Irvin shared some strong words about the Seahawks with Black Sports Online. “I’m going to be in Atlanta next season. I’m ready.”
And when asked if Seattle showed him the money after 2015, what would he do: “Atlanta is where I want to be,” said Irvin. “Believe that.”
First off, it is not surprising that Irvin would want to go to the Falcons. He was born in Atlanta and his former defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, was just hired as the head coach. However, very rarely does a player openly talk about going to another team, while still under contract.
Does he realize that he has to deal with the Seahawks for another year? Also, is this relationship, between player and organization, in any way salvageable? This is going from a small social media spat to a completely difficult situation, which makes this an interesting storyline to keep following.
