Russell Wilson Throws Light Jab At Seattle Seahawks

The soft spoken Russell Wilson recently appeared on North Carolina’s 99.9 The Fan, a radio station near NC State, which is where Wilson spent his first three seasons as a college QB before transferring to Wisconsin.

During the interview, his contract negotiations came up, as Wilson is currently heading into the final year of his rookie contract without the two parties agreeing on a bigger deal – the reason why he took out an insurance policy for the 2015 season.

Russell Wilson Throws Light Jabs At Seattle

“At the end of the day I trust the process,” Wilson told the radio station. “I know God’s going to take me and put me where he wants to have me. I hope that’s Seattle. I love it there, it’s a great place. But I’ve gone through the ups and downs and been moved around before. I loved NC State and loved playing there and then having to go somewhere else and start new.”

Obviously, this could be making a lot over very little, but Wilson basically told the Seahawks that he would be comfortable with a transition. He already did it once when he left NC State for Wisconsin.  And it is much easier for him to find another team, than for the organization to find another franchise QB.

As previously mentioned, he is only set to make $1.54 million this year. And when Ryan Tannehill, Miami’s QB taken in the same draft class, just inked a deal worth roughly $96 million, Wilson knows that his superior stats and Super Bowl ring means that he deserves an even bigger contract. ESPN is reporting his asking price at $110 million over five years, making him the highest paid player in the league.

The Seahawks also have the option to franchise tag the QB in 2016, which will reportedly pay him $23 million. So it appears both sides have drawn their line in the sand and will not budge. For Seattle’s sake, lets hope that this does not become a distraction.
