Ronda Rousey Nearly Loses Finger While Filming TV Show ‘9-1-1,’ Shares Hospital Photo

Ronda Rousey may be a strong fighter, but she is not immune to bodily injuries.

The 32-year-old former WWE and UFC women’s bantamweight champion nearly lost her middle finger during an accident while shooting a scene for the Fox television show 9-1-1. Rousey shared a photo of herself on Instagram on Tuesday that showed her lying in a hospital bed with her gruesome injury, which revealed part of her finger bloodied and severed off.

“Freak accident, first take of the day a boat door fell on my hand, I thought I just jammed my fingers so I finished the take before looking,” Rousey wrote in the post’s lengthy caption.

The former mixed martial arts star then added doctors reattached her finger’s bone and tendon with plates and screws. Rousey added she was astounded by her fast recovery and said she returned to filming the following day.

“Modern medicine amazes me, I already had 50% range of motion back in 3 days,” Rousey added in the photo’s caption.

Rousey last fought in the WWE in April, when she competed in WrestleMania. Since then, she has focused on starting a family with husband and fellow former UFC star Travis Browne. Although it remains unknown whether or not Rousey will return to WWE, she is still under contract with the pro wrestling organization. Rousey’s last UFC fight came in December 2016.
