British No. 4 Dan Evans missed an opportunity to reach the quarterfinals of the Aegon Open in Nottingham, England, on Wednesday after he lost to second seed Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay in three sets in the third round.
The 26-year-old Brit in control after one set and a break up and served for victory against Cuevas.
The Uruguay, however, fought back and, helped by an ill-timed double fault from Evans at 5-5 in the second-set tie-break, went on to equalized the match.
Cuevas, 30, became much more comfortable on serve in the decider and eventually secured a 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 victory.

Cuevas previously lost to Czech Tomas Berdych in the third round of the French Open, Roland Garros, last month.
Evans, who has beaten a player inside the world’s top 25 only once, was two points away from his first-ever ATP quarter-final on grass.
