The Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut Veteran quarterback Jake Browning months after signing him to a one-year contract.
Heading into training camp and preseason, Browning was in an unlikely QB2 battle with undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels.
Browning, 30, has spent his entire career up to this point with the Cincinnati Bengals as a backup QB. With constant injuries to starter Joe Burrow, the Bengals have had to rely on Browning for the past three seasons.
During this stretch, Browning has played in 17 games in the regular season, where he went 4-6 as a starter. He threw for 2,384 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Browning’s biggest moment during this stretch was an overtime 27-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Daniels signed with the Bucs over the offseason and has been fighting for an unlikely roster spot with the team.
When roster cuts came out, it surprised many that Daniels became the backup to Baker Mayfield rather than Browning.
The Bucs cut Browning five months after he signed his one-year contract worth $1.3 million.
According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, Daniels impressed many throughout camp, leading head coach Todd Bowles to give him a chance.
Speaking after the Bucs’ final preseason game, Bowles told reporters, “Daniels has shown a lot. He’s shown a lot. We’re going to go back and evaluate the film.”
When Daniels arrived at the team, his deal included a signing bonus of just $25,000.
He has since appeared in all three of Tampa Bay’s preseason games, completing 61% of his passes for 239 yards, and rushing for an additional 37 yards and a touchdown.
Browning was offered a practice squad spot with the Bucs, but he has declined. Now the veteran QB is looking for a new home.
