The Ottawa Senators have hired Jim Little as the chief executive officer on Friday, hoping for a boost both on and off the ice. The struggling franchise is tied for the second fewest points in the league and is in desperate need for a momentum change.

Owner Eugene Melnyk had been the CEO of the Senators since the split with Tom Anselmi in February 2018.

Little has a history of senior executive roles, with his latest being executive vice president and chief marketing and culture officer for Shaw Communications, a Canadian telecommunications company. He has also held senior roles at Royal Bank, Bell Canada and Bombardier, a Canadian transportation company.

His role with Ottawa will be business strategy with a focus on marketing and community relations.

“We’ve got a passionate and dedicated team of professionals, on and off the ice, and a community that wants us to succeed. Together, we will”, Little said.

Ottawa will play the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow night at home as they seek a must needed win and turn around in their season.
