New Orleans Saints’ Brandon Browner Sets Record For Penalties

New Orleans Saints cornerback Brandon Browner set a new record on Monday night following his team’s 35-27 home loss against the Detroit Lions on Monday night. Browner received his 23rd flag this season (21 accepted), which surpasses the previous league record, formerly held by Houston Texans tackle Chester Pitts in 2003. Browner tied this record last week against the Buccaneers.

Browner was flagged for a personal foul after throwing himself at Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson about halfway through the first quarter during Monday Night’s game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The Lions scored soon afterward and gained a 7-0 lead. Browner was again flagged in the second quarter, but the penalty was declined.

Next Sunday, the Saints (5-9) will next host the Jacksonville Jaguars, while the Lions (5-9) will host the San Francisco 49ers.
