Garett Crochet Gives Up Career-High 10 Runs Against Twins

Boston Red Sox starter Garrett Crochet gave up 10 earned runs against the Minnesota Twins on April 13.

The Twins defeated the Red Sox 13-6. Ten earned runs is the most that Crochet has ever given up in a game.

Luke Keaschall got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double to score Austin Martin. The last run Crochet gave up was a solo home run to Ryan Kreidler. Crochet was taken out after one and 1.2 innings.

Ryan Jeffers was the biggest contributor for the Twins. He had three hits, three RBIs and a walk.

Although the Red Sox lost, they still managed to score four runs off Twins starter Bailey Ober. Wilyer Abreu was the Red Sox’s best hitter with two hits, an RBI and a walk.

Crochet struggled in every aspect of pitching against the Twins. His fastball was slower, his command was wild, and his pitch selection was poor. Despite this, Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters that Crochet is perfectly healthy.

Crochet was coming off a career year, with a 2.59 ERA. This helped him finish second in American League Cy Young Award voting.

Before this game, Crochet had an ERA of 3.12 in three starts in 2026. This start inflated his ERA to 7.58. Early-season struggles can make season numbers look worse than they actually are since the sample size is so small.

The Twins have been a pleasant surprise so far. They are the best team in the American League Central with a record of 11-7. Meanwhile, the Red Sox are the worst team in the American League East with a record of 6-11.

The Twins’ next series will be against the Cincinnati Reds, while the Red Sox’s next series will be against the Detroit Tigers.
