Michigan vs. Florida State Elite Eight Preview
Michigan (31-7) reached the Elite Eight with a 99-72 victory over No. 7 Texas A&M earlier on Thursday, while FSU (23-11) upset No. 4 Gonzaga, 75-60 in a later contest on Thursday.
The winner of Saturday’s game will get the South Region champion between No. 9 Kansas State vs. No. 11 Loyola (Chicago) — who are also competing on Saturday for a Final Four spot — in the national semifinals March 30 in San Antonio.
The Wolverines and the Seminoles have only played each other three times in history, with Michigan holding a 2-1 edge in the series. The last meeting was an 82-80 Michigan win at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off on Nov. 22, 2013.
Despite losing three of their last four pre-NCAA tournament games and going 5-5 in their final 10, Florida State advanced to the tournament as a No. 9 seed before defeating Missouri by 13. The Seminoles upset No. 1 Xavier, 75-70, in the second round before notching another upset win Thursday night.
Michigan and FSU will face off at 8:49pm EST in Los Angeles on Saturday. The game will air on TBS.
