The Montreal Canadiens have announced that their Goalie Carey Price will be out for a minimum of six weeks following a knee injury.

This seems like bad timing, given that the NHL’s Winter Classic is scheduled for Jan. 1, 2016, between the Canadiens and the Boston Bruins. According to the Montreal Gazette, Price injured his right knee on Monday, and then reinjured it in his third game back against the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 29 after doing time in the IR. He has been limited to 12 games this season, going 10-2-0 with a .934 save percentage and a 2.06 GAA.

Fortunately, Price’s injury will not require surgery. With him out, Michael Condon and Dustin Tokarsky are set to replace him. The last time Price was injured, Condon did a terrific job filling in for him, and has gone 8-2-3 with a 2.19 GAA and a .916 save percentage this season. It thus seems that Condon would be the most likely and logical fit to replace Price for the Winter Classic between the Habs and the Bruins in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Condon is a native of Holliston, Mass.
