Mike Trout Rookie Card Sells At Auction For $900,000

Mike Trout has been one of the most popular and talented baseball players ever since he entered MLB. In 2009, Trout was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels, and it is his rookie card from that year while he was playing for the Arizona Angels that has made recent news.

On Wednesday, Trout’s rookie card, a signed Bowman Draft Chrome Red Refractor, sold at auction for $900,000. The sale ties the modern record for a sports card.

The card was Trout’s first autograph in an MLB jersey. There are only five in existence, and a similar card sold for $400,000 in 2018.

Of all the baseball players in today’s game it almost makes sense it was Trout whose rookie card for such a high amount –  since he made his debut in 2011, Trout won AL Rookie of the Year in 2012, has been named an all-star eight times and won AL MVP three times in 2014, 2016 and 2019. Oh yeah, Trout is still only 28 years old.
