Megan Rapinoe Says She’s Not Going To The ‘F–king’ White House If U.S. Wins World Cup, Trump Responds

United States Women’s National Team star Megan Rapinoe recently revealed that if they win the 2019 World Cup, she and her team will not be going to the White House, a typical ceremony for sports teams in the U.S. who win championships.

“I’m not going to the f—ing White House,” Rapinoe said, according to FOX News. “No. I’m not going to the White House. We’re not going to be invited… I doubt it.”

President Donald Trump saw Rapinoe’s remarks and tweeted back a long response early Wednesday morning. Saying, “I am a big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job! We haven’t yet invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose. Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!”, the tweet read.

Rapinoe falls in line with other multiple athletes refusing to come to the White House under Trump’s administration. When the Toronto Raptors won their first NBA Finals earlier this month, guard Danny Green said that a visit there is a “hard pass,” according to SF Gate.

When the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Finals in 2017, they decided they would not be visiting the White House. After the news came out that they weren’t coming, Trump tweeted “going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!”, according to NBC News.

According to Yahoo Sports, Rapinoe said she was “a walking protest when it comes to the Trump administration,” because of “everything I stand for.”

The USWNT faces host nation France in the quarter-finals of the 2019 World Cup on Friday at 3 p.m. EST for one of the most anticipating matchups women’s soccer has to offer.
