Kevin Durant Vetoes Trade That Would’ve Sent Him to Timberwolves

A trade that would have sent Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant to the Minnesota Timberwolves was vetoed by the slim reaper.

Recent reports revealed that Durant’s preferred destinations are the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. Despite the details being arranged for a trade to Minnesota and a third team involved, Durant said no.

“League sources have said the Nets were brought in as a potential third team in a deal construct [between Phoenix and Minnesota],” Matt Moore of Hardwood Paroxysm wrote. “But then KD did what is in his right, and sent out word that he doesn’t want to play there.”

The Timberwolves are considered a frontrunner to be Durant’s next team, with odds of +350 on many sportsbooks.

Pairing Durant with Anthony Edwards is a dream scenario for many Timberwolves fans. With this development, however, it seems that Minnesota could be out of the equation.

The 37-year-old has a strong market, which the Suns are utilizing to get the best possible assets in a Durant trade.

The Spurs, Rockets and Heat all have young pieces the Suns could be interested in. The team that lands Durant will likely be the one most willing to part with its young players.
