Just two years after signing Jalen Ramsey to a three-year, $72 million extension, the Miami Dolphins and Ramsey have mutually agreed to seek trade options for the star.

In 2024, Ramsey played in all 17 games for the Dolphins. He had somewhat of a down year, missing the Pro Bowl for the first time since his rookie season in 2016. However, Ramsey is still considered one of the top cornerbacks in the league.

Ramsey did not request a trade or ask for more money, however, both parties met and decided on exploring a trade.

“We decided it was in the best interest of all parties to move forward,” Dolphins GM Chris Grier said.

Despite Ramsey’s ability, it could be difficult to facilitate a trade because of his contract. Ramsey has a guaranteed salary of $24.3 million with a cap number of $16.6 million.

Ramsey would be added to the list of Dolphins stars who are either leaving or rumored to be. Dolphins star Tyreek Hill has been rumored to want to be traded, posting cryptic messages on X signaling a “peace out” emoji. Offensive tackle Terron Armstead retired on April 5 after three seasons with the Dolphins and 12 in the NFL.

If Hill is traded, the Dolphins could lose three of their top players.

There are many teams that could be interested in a trade for Ramsey. The Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals could all be in the mix.

The Dolphins have made the playoffs in two of the last three years, but with losing talent, it’s possible the team could be in for a down year.
