Georgetown Coach Patrick Ewing Tests Positive For COVID-19
Patrick Ewing, the New York Knicks legend who is now coach at his alma mater Georgetown, announced Friday that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Ewing issued a statement that he had contracted the virus on Twitter. “I want to share that I have tested positive for COVID-19,” he wrote. “This virus is serious and should not be taken lightly. I want to encourage everyone to stay safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Now more than ever, I want to thank the health care workers and everyone on the front lines. I’ll be fine, and we will all get through this.”
The 57-year old Ewing is the only member of the basketball program at Georgetown to test positive for the virus according to the school.
Ewing won an NCAA championship with the Hoyas as a player in 1984, and became the head coach at Georgetown in 2017. Ewing’s team went 15-17 prior to the remainder of the season being cancelled.
