Free agent Wes Welker has visited the Miami Dolphins in his quest to be signed. After starting 2014 suspended for violating the NFL’s drug policy, he saw his output decline over the course of the season.
Between 2011-13, he posted 313 receptions, 3,701 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns, yet he only garnered 464 yards on 49 catches and two touchdowns last season. Now further add his concussion problem — Welker received his third concussion during a 2014 preseason game — and one begins to wonder if he has anything left in the tank.
That is why the Broncos have shown little interest, but it appears the Miami Dolphins are willing to at least have him visit. Welker started his career with the AFC East team before being traded to the Patriots in 2007 — an egregious error that cost Miami.

Are the Dolphins attempting to correct a past mistake or do they actually think Welker could contribute?
Who knows, but this is the third high profile wide receiver to visit the Miami Dolphins in the offseason. After trading Mike Wallace to the Minnesota Vikings, the team met with Michael Crabtree, Greg Jennings and now Welker to add depth to their roster.
At the moment, no one knows if this could turn into anything, but it is still an interesting development. Welker is probably worth taking a chance on if the price is right. It would be thoroughly moronic if the Dolphins gave up a lot for him, yet they also have over $13 million in cap space.
