Eagles Add Depth To Secondary, Sign Kenny Moore To Practice Squad

After the Indianapolis Colts released him in May, where he spent his entire career, Kenny Moore signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, hoping this is where he can finally win.

The nine-year Colt expressed his displeasure with his reduced role in Indianapolis, though reports say the team parted ways with mutual respect and that it simply came down to time for a change.

“I’m at the perfect point in my career where I really want to win,” the former Pro-Bowler said.

The match could be perfect for Moore, 31, who believes he still has plenty to give in the NFL. The Eagles have shown they have a winning culture in recent years, which is exactly what Moore is looking for.

The safety position has been iffy for the Eagles’ defense, so adding a Veteran could be the answer at safety, even though Moore plays cornerback. Cornerback hasn’t been an issue for the Eagles, but Moore could work his way into the backup cornerback role if they move people around to improve safety.

Most importantly, the Eagles have a young defensive unit. Especially in the secondary, with young players such as Cooper DeJean, Quinyon Mitchell and Andrew Mukuba being the building blocks of Vic Fangio’s operation.

Moore could be a veteran voice for these ascending stars, and his 2021 Pro Bowl appearance gives him the accolades to demand respect.

Inconsistent defensive play has been a big part of why the Eagles have needed late-game heroics to get by the first few weeks of the NFL season. Both wins came by a combined six points, with the four-point win against the Titans the most concerning in Week 2.

The Eagles take on the Bears on Monday Night Football this week.
