Dean Smith Sent $200 To All Former Players
Unfortunately, this year saw the passing of one of the greatest college basketball coaches of all-time, Dean Smith. The longtime UNC head coach led the Tar Heels to two national championships, 17 conference championships and a record of 876-254 over his 36-year career.
But, more importantly, he was also known for his relationship with players off-the-court. And nothing shows this more than Smith’s will. He sent all of his former letterman $200 with the message, “enjoy a dinner out compliments of Coach Dean Smith.”
