Baseball super agent Scott Boras is once again publicly outing the MLB, this time after another injury to one of his clients, Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant.

On Sunday, Bryant sprained his ankle stepping on first base in a rainy day while trying to beat out a double play. Similar to 2017 when Philadelphia Phillies’ Bryce Harper, a good friend of Bryant and coincidentally a client of Boras, also got injured on what the agent calls a ‘wet-bag’ problem.

“They’re focused on other factors, economic factors, all things relating to how they can administer the game, and yet the safety of players and resolution of this issue has gone without any attention,” Boras said, “The integrity of our game is going to [be] damaged when the safety of players is not at the forefront, and Major League Baseball has dropped the ball on the wet-bag subject. There’s been no discussion, no resolution, absolutely nothing done in this area except the player is to bear the burden of slippery and wet bags.”

“How many MVP’s have to go down?” Boras said in a statement.

Regarding weather conditions and the office of the commissioner, Boras stated, “We were put on notice about this issue years ago. Where is the protocol for it? It borders on negligence.”

The Major Leagues has gone under scrutiny with protection, which has led to several big changes to baseball in the past few years. After an ugly slide accident broke Met’s player Ruben Tejada‘s leg in 2015, a sliding rule was enforced to protect players. Safety netting is also being considered throughout baseball after many teams expanded their netting to protect fans from foul balls and bats.

MLB’s rules surrounding bad weather has been left to the discretion of the in game umpires.

As for Bryant’s injury, X-rays were negative, but he is done for the remainder of the season. The Cubs are almost statistically eliminated from the final play-off spot after six straight close loses.
