Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, along with dynamic rookie Tyreek Hill, helped lead his team to a 33-10 home victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday night.

Chiefs’ Travic Kelce Uses Speed For 80-Yard TD In 33-10 Win Over Broncos

First, with 5:30 remaining in the first quarter and with the Chiefs (11-4) up 7-0, quarterback Alex Smith handed the ball to Hill on a first-and-10, and the rookie initially weaved through the Broncos (8-7) defense and then ran clearly ahead of everyone for a 70-yard touchdown.

Then in the final minute of the first quarter, Kelce pulled off his own similarly impressive TD, although he ran for 80 yards to put Kansas City up 21-7. Like Hill, Kelce found himself completely alone for most of his dash as Von Miller and the helpless Denver defense looked on in despair. Quite a Christmas present for the Chiefs, right?

With the win, both the Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins (10-5) have clinched a playoff berth, while the reigning Super Bowl champion Broncos have been eliminated from postseason contention.

The Chiefs still have a shot at the AFC’s No. 2 seed and a first-round bye if they win in San Diego and the Matt McGloin-led Raiders lose in Denver to close out the regular season. Should the Chiefs and Dolphins each finish 11-5, per NFL Research, Miami will nose out Kansas City for the No. 5 seed by virtue of a superior record versus common opponents.

This is the first time since 2003 that both Super Bowl teams from the previous season failed to reach the playoffs (the Carolina Panthers were eliminated on Saturday after losing to the Atlanta Panthers 33-16).
