Atlanta Dream Players Protest Co-Owner GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler By Wearing Shirts Supporting Opponent Rev. Raphael Warnock
Tensions continue to rise between Atlanta Dream players and co-owner, Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler, who is a vocal advocate for President Donald Trump and against the Black Lives Matter movement. Since her criticism, Dream players have been trying to get Loeffler out of the ownership group.
On Tuesday, the players took their disdain of Loeffler to another level – they sported tee shirts encouraging fans to vote for Loeffler’s Democratic opponent in November, Rev. Raphael Warnock.

Dream forward Elizabeth Williams told ESPN that she wanted to support Loeffler’s opponent without directly talking about Loeffler.
“I think when all this stuff started happening with her, we didn’t want to feel like we were pawns,” Williams said. “We can only control so much about what the league does [in regard to Loeffler], and so for us, we wanted it to be bigger than that,” she said. “That’s kind of been the theme of this season. So we wanted to make sure we could still keep the focus on our social justice movement, and funny enough, Rev. Warnock is somebody who supports everything that we support and just happens to be running in that seat. So it just worked out really well.”
