Alex Morgan has apologized for her rowdy behavior in Orlando over the weekend.
The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team forward was booted out of Disney World’s Epcot theme park after her and two other soccer players were caught being drunk and “very loud and belligerent toward staff around guests,” according to a police report that quoted Epcot managers’ statements. “I want to apologize for my actions that occurred over the weekend,” 27-year-old Morgan tweeted. “I will learn from this and make sure it never happens again.”
Morgan, who also plays for the NWSL’s Orlando Pride, was reportedly accompanied by two male players from Orlando City SC, Donny Toia and Giles Barnes. Per the New York Daily News, six people were listed on an Orange County Sheriff’s Office incident report as having been escorted out of the park after appearing “highly impaired” and given a trespass warning. No charges were filed. Just hours before the incident on Sunday, Morgan had posted a group photo on Instagram at Epcot with the caption: “Annual around the world in 8 hours. No big.” Morgan helped lead the USWNT to a World Cup title in 2015.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that Morgan, Toia and his wife Courtney were kicked out for trespassing at Epcot, while Barnes was issued a warning. Morgan also reportedly screamed during the incident that she knew members of the Orlando SWAT team.
The Orlando Pride, who finished third in the NWSL standings, will play Morgan’s former club Portland Thorns FC in the semifinals on Saturday at Providence Park in Portland.
Pride coach Tom Sermanni said he expects Morgan will play, the Sentinel reported. Orlando City next plays Columbus on Oct. 15 following a 0-0 tie vs. FC Dallas.
Morgan joined the Pride in 2016, the same year she signed a contract in December to go on loan to French club Lyon.
The US Women’s team next faces South Korea in a friendly match in New Orleans on Oct. 19. The American women last defeated New Zealand 5-0 in Ohio on Sept. 19.
