Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo missed the team’s game against the Charlotte Hornets after suffering a left big toe sprain on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old is listed as day-to-day after undergoing an MRI. Adebayo, who is averaging 19.9 points and 8.1 rebounds this season, exited in the first quarter of the Heat’s 122-112 road defeat to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night. The center did not return to the court.

“A guy hit me in the back of the leg and then I felt the pain in my foot,” Adebayo said after the loss. “So, I took it upon myself to check myself out and go see what happened.”

“Obviously, you don’t want to do anything more to cause any lingering effects. So, Spo (head coach Erik Spoelstra) checked me out.”

Adebayo joins Tyler Herro on the Heat’s injury report: the latter of whom is undergoing surgery on his left foot prior to the season.

The Heat sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference as the team gets ready for a four-game home stand, starting with the Hornets on Friday night.
