The Los Angeles Rams have officially acquired Sony Michel from the New England Patriots. The former Georgia standout will fill in for the Ram’s promising running back, Cam Akers, after Akers tore his Achilles during training camp. As part of the trade, the Rams will be sending a 2022 sixth-round pick and 2023 fourth-round pick to the Pats.

“We identified Sony for many reasons. Number one, being his experience, and experience meaning like a player who has carried the ball in big games and in those big games, where there have been big moments, big drives, big series,” Rams general manager Les Snead explained.

In 2020, Michel played in nine games and averaged an impressive 5.7 yards per carry. His young resume includes a championship ring from the Pats’ victory over his new team in Super Bowl LIII, during which Michel scored the game’s only touchdown on a two-yard run.
