Trae Young Injury Update Reveals Lateral Left Ankle Sprain

On Thursday, the Atlanta Hawks provided an injury update on their All-Star point guard.

“Following an MRI today at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex, Trae Young was diagnosed with a lateral left ankle sprain,” the Hawks said. “He will be listed as out for our next two games, and his status will be updated as appropriate.”

The Hawks were facing the New York Knicks in an important game on Wednesday night. The game had significant implications regarding the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. Heading into that game, Atlanta held the fourth seed, but the Knicks trailed by just half a game.

In the third quarter of the game, Young drove to the basket and attempted a floater, but he came down on the foot of Norvel Pelle. Young was then helped to the locker room and put little-to-no weight on his left leg. The point guard did not return to the game and the Hawks lost to New York 137-127 in overtime. He had 20 points and 14 assists before leaving.

The All-Star guard is currently averaging 25.3 points. 3.9 rebounds, and 9.6 assists. Atlanta currently holds the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference ahead of their Friday game against the Miami Heat.
