Confirmed List Of Athletes & Coaches Infected With The Coronavirus

As coronavirus continues to spread throughout the world, almost all major sports’ leagues including the NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS and European soccer leagues have suspended their seasons indefinitely in order to limit exposure to players, coaches, fans and other team officials.

The first athlete to contract the virus in the U.S. was Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert, who tested positive on March 11 causing an NBA game between the Jazz and Thunder to be called off after his diagnosis was reported. Other athletes around the world have also been infected leading to full cancellation of seasons, or postponement until the gathering of large crowds is deemed safe.

Here’s a list of all athletes and coaches who have been infected with the virus:

• Daniele Rugani, Juventus defender, 25 years old. Diagnosis announced March 11.
• Rudy Gobert, Utah Jazz center, 27 years old. Diagnosis announced March 11.
• Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, 37 years old. Diagnosis announced March 12.
• Donovan Mitchell, Utah Jazz guard, 23 years old. Diagnosis announced March 12.
• Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chelsea winger, 19 years old. Diagnosis announced March 12.
• Trey Thompkins, Real Madrid power forward, 29 years old. Diagnosis announced March 12.
• Christian Wood, Detroit Pistons forward, 24 years old. Diagnosis announced March 14.
• Unnamed Seattle Dragons (XFL) player. Diagnosis announced March 14.\
• Unnamed New York Yankees minor-league player. Diagnosis announced March 15.
• Chris Kielsmeier, Cleveland State women’s basketball coach. Diagnosis announced March 14.
