Le’Veon Bell In Hot Water After Being Caught Bowling With Flu
Although the optics are bad in the Le’Veon Bell situation, New York Jets head coach Adam Gase said that Bell did not violate any team rules and won’t be disciplined. “What am I gonna discipline him for? I can’t tell him you have to stay in your house.”
Bell, who was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins due to illness, was seen bowling on Saturday night. He had been battling the flu throughout the week and missed two practices. “That wasn’t his fault that we said he’s still contagious. I mean, that’s what the doctors told him. I’d rather him not be [bowling]. I’d rather him be at home, getting better. But that will be a conversation we have,” Gase continued.
Gase added, “Oh, he wanted to play, but they said he was still contagious. They didn’t want him around all the other guys because they thought it would spread through the team.”
The 27-year old running back is in his first season of the four-year, $52 million contract he signed with the Jets. He has had a tough year in New York, rushing for just 589 yards with three touchdowns. He has added 55 receptions for 403 yards and one touchdown.
