Cedric Benson's mugshot
On May 3, 2008, former NFL running back Cedric Benson was arrested and charged with boating while intoxicated (BWI) and resisting arrest.
Benson’s boat was stopped during a routine safety inspection. Authorities saw signs of intoxication, and Benson reportedly refused to put on a life jacket, and he refused to get off the boat to take a sobriety test.
Benson was forced to be removed from the boat, and officers had to use pepper spray during the incident. He was taken into custody and released on a $14,500 bond.
