April Fools! Dion Dawkins Fools Fans With Fake Trade

Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins posted an April Fools’ post that falsely said he was being traded to the Miami Dolphins.

Dawkins posted a graphic on his Instagram page that looked similar to graphics posted on the NFL page. Although he didn’t indicate in the post that it was an April Fool’s prank, NFL reporters have confirmed that no such trade had happened.

Dawkins was an important part of the Bills’ offensive line. According to Pro Football Sports Network, the Bills ranked No. 5 in offensive line in 2025.

He was one of the first draft picks of the Brandon Beane tenure. Dawkins was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Currently, Dawkins is the only player from that class still on the Bills. However, since Tre’Davious White and Matt Milano are still free agents, they could possibly be brought back as well.

Dawkins didn’t become a star until after his rookie contract ended. In 2021, he made his first career Pro Bowl appearance. He and Stefon Diggs were the Bills’ two Pro Bowl representatives in 2021.

He has made the Pro Bowl for five straight seasons since 2021. His best season was 2023, when he had just six penalties. He was one of three Bills to make the Pro Bowl, along with Diggs and James Cook.

The Dolphins have had a roster overhaul this offseason. This includes releasing Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb. Due to their massive roster overall, the idea that the Dolphins could trade for Dawkins wasn’t that out there.

Despite this, his hometown New York Jets may need more help. Pro Football Sports Network ranked them No. 18 in the offensive line in 2025. Offensive tackle Olu Fashanu has struggled in the NFL so far. Dawkins is from Rahway, New Jersey and could be a good fit for the Jets.
