3 Georgetown Men’s Basketball Players Charged With Burglary, Sexual Harassment, Assault

Three men’s basketball players at Georgetown University have received restraining orders, per court documents, as well as being accused of burglary; one player was also accused of sexual harassment and assault.

On November 12, a restraining order was filed by a Georgetown student against Myron Gardner, Josh LeBlanc, and Galen Alexander. The criminal complaint filed by the student alleged that “sexual harassment and assault” by Gardner took place on September 15, in the complainant’s apartment. The next day, September 16, the complainant alleges that Gardner, LeBlanc and Alexander burglarized her apartment.

Another accuser filed a similar complaint against LeBlanc and Alexander; the complaint stated:

“In response to an alleged burglary that I believe Joshua LeBlanc committed against me on Sept. 16, 2019, Joshua threatened bodily harm against myself and my roommate. He continued to threaten me verbally and via text message in the following week.”

Neither LeBlanc nor Alexander appeared in court on November 14 and were both subsequently served restraining orders. Another court date has been set for December 9.

“Georgetown takes student conduct issues very seriously and ensures that they are investigated thoroughly,” Georgetown University said in a statement. “While we are not able to comment on specific cases, we have processes for investigating and adjudicating alleged violations for our student code that are fair to both parties. We encourage any student who has a concern to be in contact with the Georgetown University Police Department or the Office of Student Conduct.”

In a written statement on Monday, Hoyas coach Patrick Ewing stated that LeBlanc would not play on the team for the remainder of the season. Until now, the sophomore was averaging 7.2 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per game in the six games he had played in this year.

Georgetown is currently 4-3 on the year, their most recent game a loss to UNCG. On Thursday, the Hoyas will travel to Oklahoma to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys; LeBlanc will not be with them.
