Despite being bitter rivals, the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays teamed up Thursday for the greater good.
During New York’s eventual 7-2 victory, each team’s Twitter account refrained from tweeting about the game and instead shared gun violence facts. The act was, of course, in response the recent deadly shootings in Buffalo, N.Y., and Uvalde, Texas.
The Yankees won the game, but both teams hit home runs here.
“In lieu of game coverage and in collaboration with the Tampa Bay Rays, we will be using our channels to offer facts about the impacts of gun violence,” the Yankees tweeted Thursday evening. “The devastating events that have taken place in Uvalde, Buffalo and countless other communities across our nation are tragedies that are intolerable.”
